Container Prices

Container prices vary with the market and depend on factors such as:
- New or used
- Volume purchased
- Current stock
- Currency exchange rates
- Delivery location within the UK
- Special delivery considerations
You can purchase or hire new and used shipping/ storage containers within the UK, individually or in any quantity from S Jones Containers. Stock containers are 8ft, 10ft, 20ft and 40ft long, (see detailed Container Dimensions); we can also modify to bespoke lengths.
Shipping containers are of all welded steel construction except the floors which are made of load bearing marine-ply over steel cross bearers. Containers typically have two weather sealed steel doors at one end hinged at or towards the outside edges with full height locking gear that attaches at the top and bottom. Additional security measures can be provided, (see security accessories). Our containers are free standing, self contained units with lifting points at each corner, weather proof, and very secure. Our container prices are also very competitive.
Security fittings such as our 'Contain-A-Lock' padlock shroud and a high security padlock and any further modification or conversion including repainting a new colour or condensation inhibition are also available, (see accessories).
To enable containers to be used for overseas shipping a current 'CSC Safety Approval' plate must be fitted. We are certified to carry out CSC approval if required on used containers. New containers are within CSC approval for up to 5 years from the date of original manufacture and the cost is incorporated in our container prices.

Container Sales and Hire Pricing Guide
Because of fluctuations in the container market and other variables such as delivery
S Jones Containers quote specific, fixed container prices directly from our container sales department for each individual enquiry. However as a general guide, the following may prove useful:
- The prices of our standard new or used 8ft to 40ft containers can vary between £800 and £2,500 plus VAT ex-depot, with attractive discounts for bulk orders.
- A typical price in December '07 for a used 40ft container delivered and positioned in the Birmingham area was £1,275 plus VAT.
- 10ft and 20ft containers at £1.50 plus VAT per day
- 40ft containers at £2.50 plus VAT per day
These container hire prices are for a minimum 30 day hire period for used units. The prices do not include delivery/ positioning/ collection charges or accessories.
We offer hire arrangements for new containers at the above hire prices over a minimum hire period of 24 months.
Hired containers can be purchased from us at any time when on hire at a negotiated container price.

Other Container Types:
We have other shipping container types typically available ex-stock:
- 20ft/ 40ft High Cube (9ft 6ins external height)
- 20ft/ 40ft Double End (standard cargo doors at both ends)
- 20ft/ 40ft Open Top (no steel roof - covered by detachable PVC roofing)
- 20ft with Side Access (cargo doors opening and folding along one full side)
We can modify your new or used container in our own workshops for an infinite number of alternative uses including: sound proof generator containers, specialist secure insulated stores with internal lifting or shelving, fire proof cabins, plant housing, secure site offices, oil industry conversions, etc. (see container conversions).
