A Railway Engineering Infrastructure Company approached us with a requirement for a Stores Facility as part of their yard set up.
The Store was created by joining three 40ft high cube storage containers together side by side. Side personnel doors and powder coated, motorised roller shutters were installed in place of the original cargo doors.
Shipping containers were specified as they provide a flexible facility that can be moved easily in the future if required.
Our customer needed the facility to be 100% weather tight on delivery.
Should they need to increase their stores facility in the future a second shipping container level can easily be added without taking up additional yard area.
Our customer commented, “After enquiries to six container suppliers, we chose S Jones for the following reasons; S Jones were the only supplier who could provide the units as a weather tight facility on delivery, without the need for further site works. Their priced proposal included design drawings and photographs from similar projects, so we could see the product we would be getting. As an engineering company ourselves, we reviewed their design and could see that the details would work and were the result of tried and tested solutions from many years of experience. During the enquiry stage we were assured of their capabilities from the confident responses to our queries and questions. We were confident that they would be flexible and could provide a bespoke solution to our requirement and they could deliver to suit our timeframe.
During the design and approval stage, all our comments and requirements were incorporated and we were given a full set of fabrication drawings prior to the start of manufacture, so we know what we would be getting. The facility was ‘on time’ and was manufactured and delivered in accordance with the date agreed and set down in our order. The units were delivered and the facility was set up and weather tight within 2 hrs of the first shipping container landing on site. The facility was manufactured in accordance with the approved drawings, and met our aspirations and expectations.
We would definitely consider S Jones for our future requirements.”
A couple of our 20ft containers are taking pride of place at a Cricket Club in Surrey.
After the owner had experienced a number of break-ins, he decided to purchase two shipping containers and add extra security with our patented Contain-A-Lock padlock protector. He then purpose built a wooden enclosure around the containers to disguise them. We think it looks pretty smart!
Our customer commented, “The service from S Jones was really good, all of my stupid questions were treated with value and respect and what I agreed to purchase was delivered with no fuss at exactly the time it was supposed to be. Very impressed.”
We do not consider any customer questions to be ‘stupid’ and we are here to educate, support customers and fully project manage all deliveries.

Former shipping containers are the latest space solution for a new animated project at London’s iconic new Battersea Power Station development.
S Jones Containers provided two containers for the animated public space which forms part of the new pedestrian entrance in the first phase of the £9bn Battersea Power Station development.
The area, beneath Grosvenor Bridge, links Chelsea Bridge Wharf to Circus West and is the only pedestrian entrance to the site for the next three years.
Created by event interior design specialists Polar Bear Live, the 20m x 50m space includes a concierge desk/visitors’ information point, public toilets, six pop-up retail units and two event spaces, as well as storage space.
At present, the containers are being used to store marketing materials, but in the future they will house outdoor furniture used in the space around the bridge during summer months.
Simon Woodward, managing director of Polar Bear Live said: “Shipping containers are very well priced and easy to install. They were the perfect solution for our storage needs and now that we've painted them copper, they're an eye-catching addition to our scheme.
“Copper features quite heavily in our design palette and complements timber well, as there’s a lot of timber.”
Danielle Paul, sales account manager at S Jones, added: “It’s great that our containers feature as part of this spectacular redevelopment and is yet another creative use of containers that we can only wait for customers to create.”

We supply containers to a variety of business sectors for many different uses.
We recently delivered a 20ft open sided container to The West Midlands Fire Service. The container is being used to store operational equipment as there is a shortage of space at the station.
Our customer commented, “using the container provides a cost effective option rather than investing in building alterations. Should our training requirements change in the future, this also provides us with a transferable solution minimising future costs.”

We were recently approached by a company who provide boutique camping accommodation at some of the UK's favourite music festivals. Their requirement was for a space that could serve as a flexible transport container as well as a public facing customer reception.
Katt, Project Manager at Pitch Village commented, 'S Jones were fantastic, helping us design a bespoke unit full of features such as power sockets, lighting and anti-condensation treatment - as well as more bespoke elements such as welcoming bi-folding doors, and an integrated shelving system. We are delighted with our S Jones container and look forward to working with them in the future.'

We are pleased to announce S Jones Containers has been awarded with an ongoing contract with the major shipping line APL for container handling, inspection, repair and storage.
The new business win adds APL to an impressive client list which includes Hanjin, MSC, Marfret, OOCL, Stinnes Linien, Tarros and Sloman Neptun.
Over the year, APL’s new contract is likely to see around 78,000 cubic metres (over 2,750,000 cubic ft) of cargo space pass through our 12-acre depot.
Andy Cargill, depot manager said: “This is a very important new client for us. Not only have we won a valuable customer in a fiercely competitive marketplace, we have done so at a time when the shipping industry is growing again. Generally shipping lines have struggled a great deal in recent years and have represented a smaller percentage of our work than they have done historically, so it’s been very satisfying to see an upturn in the amount of work we receive from our shipping line customers. Having another of the world’s top ten shipping lines join us is really the icing on the cake.”
Tony Pollock, APL’s Head of Operations UK & Ireland, said: “After a relationship spanning almost 20 years, APL has taken the difficult and unprecedented decision to move its container depot services in the West Midlands from our previous supplier to S Jones’ depot in Aldridge. This move will continue to offer APL the empty equipment services required for its container operations, in a strategically good area, at the right cost, while also allowing us to continue to support our customers with their needs. We are looking forward to another long and mutually beneficial relationship, and are extremely pleased with the service and customer focus we have received from S Jones.”
Andy Cargill said: “We have always provided our customers with the highest possible customer service levels and we do so in a way that means every customer feels important and gets exactly the type of service they need. We build strong relationships with our customers and it is the strength of these relationships that stands both S Jones and our customers in such good stead.”
