Murphys Waves, based in Glasgow, supply wave machines across the globe for the international water and leisure industry.
The Challenge and Solution
An unusual new surfing experience – reputed to be the world’s first-ever inflatable flow surfing ride called Surf-Air® is the brainchild of Murphys Waves and has created the opportunity for everyone to get up and have a go at surfing.
We provided the pump housing container for the ride and undertook detailed design and manufacture of the container element of the project, from customer concept drawings, including ventilation, pump mountings, framework and brackets.
This was a fun project to work on but one with some serious design challenges. However, we are always delighted to be tasked to come up with solutions for yet another use of a container.
What Murphys Waves Had To Say
Neil Walsh, project engineer at Murphys Waves Ltd, said: “The patented Surf-Air® is the world’s first ever inflatable flow surfing ride”, explaining how “the ride requires absolutely no construction and can be inflated and made fully operational in only a few short hours, making it the perfect surfing attraction for water parks, campsites and shopping malls etc.”
“S Jones designers quickly understood what we wanted and rose to the challenge magnificently, providing us with a quick and easily brandable solution for our customers.”
“We found that working directly with the manufacturer made a key beneficial difference to the progress and final outcome of the project.”View More Case Studies

Ordered 2 x 20ft containers, they arrived in exactly 2 weeks as had to wait for anti-condensation coating to be applied. I was disappointed the paint used on the lock box modification does not match the green of the container but thats a minor point. The delivery guy was great.Edward – 4th Aug 2020
