Mill House Container Conversions
A large project management company asked us to convert a 40ft container into an integrated mill house and control cabin to their design.
We constructed two 5ft doors to give an overall 10ft doorway to install the mill, put in a bulkhead to separate the control cabin from the mill room.
A large raw material silo was to be mounted over the top of the mill feeding raw material into the mill for processing (at 3,500rpm!). We built an integrated silo frame into the structure of the container, which also became the door posts on the one side. This approach enabled the load of the silo to be carried on the bottom rails of the container, which are the main load bearing structure of a container. The silo sub-frame is designed and built to withstand the forces of 100 mph winds on the silo attached it.
20mm thick steel mounting plates were inserted flush into the floor and welded onto the floor cross members, onto which the mill was mounted. With other various duct ports, we then completely sound insulated the main mill room in fire resistant materials that were built and fitted to withstand many years of vibration, without any deterioration.
