We're delighted to have been involved in the Big Birmingham Bikes initiative, helping Birmingham residents turn to pedal power as part of Bike Week 2015 this week by supplying converted containers for cycle centres in the city.

Under the scheme launched yesterday in Victoria Square, the first of 3000 new bikes are now being given away to people in the most deprived areas, to encourage more cycling in the city, reduce traffic congestion and improve health and wellbeing.

Another 2000 bikes will be available for all residents to hire at 22 specially kitted out cycle centres, where a number of bikes will be stationed for community access or given out on long term (six monthly) loans to individuals or groups.

So far we have delivered 10 cycle centres which are already operating at Ley Hill Park, Woodgate Valley Visitors Centre, Billesley Tennis Centre, Nechells Leisure Centre, Ackers, Sheldon Country Park, The Khidmat Centre in Small Heath, Calthorpe Park, Firs & Bromford Community Centre and Kingstanding Leisure Centre. The remaining cycle centres will be delivered over the next few weeks to Kings Norton Park and Aston Park.

The internal fit of the cycle centres includes special hooks to keep bikes safe and secure.

The Big Birmingham Bikes initiative is part of the £60million Birmingham Cycle Revolution project that aims to make cycling an everyday form of transport over the next 20 years.

Shipping Container Villages

A few years ago it was unheard of but shipping container shopping outlets are now becoming the latest trend.  We were involved in Coventry’s first shipping container village, Fargo Village.  Now Brixton have their very own shipping container landmark.  The village hosts shops, eateries and one-off boutiques which consist of stacked, painted shipping containers. A perfect example of how versatile shipping containers are!  Talk to us about your project, we would love to hear from you!

The World's Largest Container Statue!

Check out this six-story man made entirely out of shipping containers! The display was part of the Global Petroleum Show in Calgary, Canada. Now this is a perfect definition of thinking outside of the box!
