Earlier this year, Coventry University and global engineering specialist FEV Group joined forces to create a state-of-the-art low carbon technology centre, located next door to Coventry University’s National Transport Design Centre.

The new £50m test centre allows some of the leading international automotive and aerospace organisations to develop cleaner transport technologies.

As part of their mission to build, test and further improve upon future-proof powertrain concepts, Coventry University reached out to our specialist shipping container conversion team with a requirement for a 20ft fire-resistant lithium battery store, complete with ATEX Zone II interior electrical and HVAC installations, explosion venting and fire protected storage shelving.

After agreeing on the specification, we used our advanced CAD capabilities to generate an accurate virtual representation of the container. This would ensure the container would be fit for purpose prior to its build.

Once agreed by all parties, we began fabrication of the battery storage container in our purpose-built workshop before re-spraying it in our professional paint booth. The container was then promptly delivered to site.
