This container conversion was the first unit for an Urban Aquaponics Vertical roof farm project installed in a children’s playground in central London. The container shown in the bottom of the photograph houses fish tanks where circa 150 Tilapia white fish are reared. These rapidly growing fish produce water nutriments which are pumped up into the greenhouse area sited on top of the container. These nutriments are used by the plants to produce salad crops using vertical growing techniques. The harvested salad crops and the white fish are sold to local markets and restaurants.
