2025 was a landmark year for us at S Jones – one that recognised both our engineering excellence and our heritage as a family-owned shipping container supplier.
Throughout the year, we set out to raise awareness of the expert container conversions we engineer at our Aldridge site, while proudly continuing our legacy as a fourth-generation SME with more than 100 years of history.
It was a year that celebrated not just what we do, but who we are.
Our awards journey began on a high when we were shortlisted in two categories at Insider Media’s Made in the Midlands Awards – Manufacturing Innovation Award and Manufacturer of the Year (under £25m).
That evening marked a historic moment for our business, as we won our first trophy – the Manufacturing Innovation Award. These awards recognise the region’s most pioneering manufacturers, celebrating products and ideas that make a real industry impact. To be recognised among such strong competition was a moment of genuine pride for our entire team.
Following our regional success, we went on to represent the Midlands at the Made in the UK Awards, competing against some of the most innovative manufacturers in the country.
While we didn’t take home the national title, the opportunity to share ideas and network with peers was invaluable. It strengthened our ambition and reinforced our commitment to innovation.
Later in the year, we were delighted to receive further regional recognition that celebrated the strength of our conversions division and our in-house engineering capabilities. Our custom-built containerised units, designed to house specialist equipment for clients across multiple sectors, were acknowledged as helping to progress the industry.
The judges were particularly impressed by our focus on quality control and customer satisfaction, and we were proud to be named Small Manufacturer of the Year at the West Midlands Business Awards.
Our achievements extended beyond engineering. We were also named finalists for Family Business of the Year at the Express & Star Business Awards.
Led by fourth-generation family members, we specialise in shipping container sales, hire, and bespoke container conversions, supporting clients across engineering, energy, education, healthcare, and more. Family values sit at the heart of everything we do, reflected in our 97.5% customer satisfaction rating and long-standing client relationships.
We were also shortlisted in two categories at the Make UK Manufacturing Awards for the Midlands and East region – SME of the Region and Innovation Award.
While we didn’t secure a trophy, the experience offered valuable insight into industry best practices and reinforced our focus on refining our engineering processes as we look toward 2026 and beyond.
We closed the year in November by winning Manufacturing Innovator of the Year at the Innovation Awards 2025 – the perfect finale to an exceptional year.
This award recognised our expertise in containerised storage and testing of lithium-ion batteries, a rapidly growing requirement across multiple sectors. The win was particularly meaningful as it involved both a public vote and a panel interview, reflecting the collective support behind our work.
We began 2025 by winning the Manufacturing Innovation Award and ended it as Manufacturing Innovator of the Year – a powerful marker of our progress and a testament to innovation being at the heart of who we are.
Our goal of attaining recognition for our out-of-the-box thinking and engineering expertise has been achieved, and every award and shortlist has brought us closer together as a team.
