Grafo Therm Condensation Treatment for Shipping Containers

Grafo Therm is a specialist anti-condensation coating designed to control moisture inside shipping containers. Once applied to the container roof, the textured coating absorbs moisture as it forms on the steel surface, preventing it from developing into dripping condensation. It then releases the moisture slowly as the container naturally ventilates. This prevents dripping, protects stored goods, and keeps the internal environment drier and more stable. 

Grafo Therm is often a more cost-effective solution than insulation for controlling day-to-day condensation. Unlike insulation, which traps warm air, Grafo Therm absorbs moisture directly at the surface, preventing it from forming into water droplets. For many general-purpose storage needs, it provides excellent moisture control without the cost, thickness, or installation time of full insulation. However, for temperature-sensitive environments or heated applications, traditional insulation may still be the better choice. 

A professional Grafo Therm application typically lasts 5 – 10 years, depending on the container’s condition and how frequently it is ventilated. With proper ventilation and periodic airing, many containers maintain effective anti-condensation protection well beyond the expected lifespan.

Grafo Therm is not recommended for containers that will remain closed for long periods without regular access or ventilation. The coating works by absorbing moisture and then releasing it naturally, so it needs airflow to “weather” and dry out. For this reason, it’s not always the best choice for self storage sites or long term sealed storage, where containers may stay shut for months at a time. In these cases, alternative moisture-control or insulation solutions may be more suitable.
