At S Jones, we provide professional shipping container lining and insulation services across Great Britain, helping you protect stored items, improve comfort, and extend your container’s lifespan.
Unlined containers are prone to condensation, which can cause dampness, mould, and rust. They can also become extremely hot in summer and cold in winter. Our lining and insulation solutions solve these problems – making your container more secure, usable, and long-lasting.
With over 40 years of experience in the container industry, we specialise in providing high-performance shipping container lining solutions tailored to every project. One of our most popular lining materials is 11mm OSB/3 board, chosen for its strength, durability and suitability for demanding environments.
OSB/3 is knot-free, dimensionally stable and designed for humid conditions, helping to reduce condensation while providing a robust surface for fixing shelving, hooks and storage systems. We also line the inside of container doors to ensure complete thermal and moisture protection.
We additionally offer white melamine-faced boards, which provide a clean, hygienic, easy-to-wipe finish – ideal for laboratories, food preparation areas and controlled environments.
Whatever your application, our experts can recommend the most suitable container lining solution to meet your performance, regulatory and budget requirements.
For enhanced temperature control, we offer a choice of insulation methods, including spray foam insulation, foil-backed insulation boards, and thermal lining systems.
We’ll recommend the best option based on your intended use – whether that’s business storage, a workshop, or a container conversion.
Based in Aldridge, Walsall, we provide professional shipping container lining and insulation services nationwide.
Our mobile container modification and repair team can install insulation on-site, covering major locations including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, and Glasgow.
Whether you need a fully lined and insulated conversion or upgrades to an existing container, our specialist team can advise on the best solution for your application.

Insulation is one of the most effective ways to reduce or eliminate condensation in a shipping container. Uninsulated steel walls quickly attract moisture, leading to dampness, mould and rust. Proper insulation creates a thermal barrier, preventing warm air from meeting cold steel and forming water droplets. If your container is used for storage, workspace, welfare facilities or long-term occupancy, insulation is strongly recommended to keep the interior dry and protected.
The best lining material depends on how your container will be used. OSB/3 board is ideal for storage units and workshops because it is strong, durable, moisture-resistant and provides a robust surface for fixing shelves and equipment. For clean or controlled environments, such as laboratories, food prep areas or specialist conversions, white melamine-faced boards offer a hygienic, easy-wipe finish. Our team will recommend the most suitable lining based on your application and performance requirements.
Yes. We can line and insulate all standard container sizes, including 10ft, 20ft and 40ft units, as well as high cube containers. High cubes benefit particularly from insulation because of their increased internal volume and extra headroom. All lining and insulation systems are measured and fitted to the exact interior dimensions of the container to ensure a secure, professional finish.
Yes. Insulation improves temperature stability year-round by reducing heat transfer through the steel walls. In winter, insulation helps retain warmth and keeps the container more comfortable for people or equipment. In summer, it slows heat gain from the sun, preventing the container from becoming excessively hot. This makes insulated containers far more usable, energy-efficient and comfortable in all seasons.
Lining and insulation perform different roles but are often used together. Insulation provides thermal protection, reduces condensation and helps control temperature. Lining covers the insulation and provides a durable internal finish, allowing you to fix shelving, hooks or equipment to the walls. Lining also improves appearance and protects the insulation layer. Most customers choose a combined lining and insulation package for maximum performance and longevity.
