Strengthening Our Commitment to Sustainability, Health & Safety and Continuous Improvement

Over the past year, our team has worked diligently to prepare the business for a comprehensive audit conducted by Peers Quality Assurance Limited. We are proud to announce that these efforts have been formally recognised with the achievement of two additional ISO certifications: ISO 14001 for Environmental Management and ISO 45001 for Occupational Health and Safety.

Our decision to pursue these internationally recognised standards is rooted in a long-standing commitment to continuous improvement. Not only do they strengthen our internal business processes, but they also support our ambition to create a safer, more sustainable working environment for our team. Striving for excellence is one of our core values, and obtaining these ISO certifications is a clear demonstration of that commitment in action.

What the Team Has Achieved and What Comes Next

To achieve ISO 14001: Environmental Management Systems, the audit assessed our proactive and ongoing approach to reducing environmental impact, with particular focus on waste reduction and energy conservation.

In line with this standard, we have committed to replacing our traditional container lift truck with a biodiesel alternative, a move that will significantly reduce carbon emissions while maintaining operational performance. We have also begun upgrading our head office with triple-glazed windows to improve thermal efficiency and are progressing plans to re-clad our workshop to enhance insulation, durability and long-term energy performance.

Looking ahead, we are also working towards the installation of solar panels on our roof. This next step will further reduce our environmental footprint and support our long-term commitment to building a more sustainable future for the business.

To achieve ISO 45001: Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, which provides a structured framework for managing risk and improving health and safety performance, we have introduced a range of initiatives focused on employee wellbeing and operational control. We are currently implementing new software designed to plan, schedule, check and record servicing, calibration, monitoring and training activities. In addition, we have introduced daily site briefings and fortnightly Toolbox Talks, ensuring employees are fully informed of site movements, potential risks and training requirements, and remain actively engaged in maintaining a safe working environment.

“These internationally-recognised ISO accreditations give our customers, suppliers and colleagues peace of mind and also cement our reputation as a trusted global solutions provider. While they are not mandatory for the majority of projects we work on currently, we wanted to future-proof our position to allow us to continue to undertake complex projects for global leaders in the aviation, automotive and engineering fields.

We already hold ISO 9001: Quality Management System, which guides our processes to ensure we deliver consistently high quality products. Having these additional ISOs in place will open new doors for us and we see it as an important step as part of our strategic growth plan across all divisions, from container hire and sales to conversions and modular solutions. It marks the start of an exciting new chapter for us here at S Jones Containers”
