Following a highly successful exhibition last year, we are proud to return to The Fire Safety Event 2026, taking place from 28-30 April at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Birmingham. Widely recognised as the UK’s leading fire safety exhibition, the event brings together professionals from across construction, manufacturing, energy, and infrastructure to explore the latest fire safety products, regulations, and risk-mitigation strategies.

Our return follows strong interest in our container conversion solutions at the 2025 event, where discussions around fire-rated enclosures, battery safety, and compliant technical spaces dominated conversations. With fire risk and compliance continuing to dominate industry conversations, we’re looking forward to building on last year’s momentum in 2026.

Fire Safety and Lithium-Ion Battery Storage Solutions

Fire safety sits at the heart of our Conversions Division, which specialises in designing and manufacturing controlled, compliant environments for high-risk applications. From fire-rated equipment enclosures to complex technical units, every conversion is engineered with safety, performance, and regulations as a priority.

One of the most prominent topics at last year’s event was lithium-ion battery fire risk. When batteries enter thermal runaway, fires can escalate rapidly, producing intense heat, toxic gases, and unpredictable behaviour. As battery usage accelerates across sectors such as manufacturing, energy storage, transport, and R&D, organisations are under increasing pressure to identify safer ways to store and test batteries.

In response, S Jones has developed a range of battery storage and testing container solutions designed to contain fire, manage escalation, and support safe intervention by emergency services. To date, we continue to support customers operating in high-risk, regulated environments across the UK. We’re also seeing strong repeat business, for example, we have delivered 10 highly specialised battery enclosures to Warwick Manufacturing Group, with further orders already in the pipeline.

Supporting Compliance and Evolving Battery Regulations

Another highlight of The Fire Safety Event 2025 was a panel discussion led by our Head of Conversions, Andy Nicholls, titled Electric Revolution, Safety Evolution: Prioritising Battery Regulations.” The session attracted a full audience and sparked important debate around lithium-ion battery storage standards, compliance gaps, and the need for clearer regulation.

These discussions reinforced what many businesses are experiencing: fire safety requirements are evolving, and practical, compliant solutions must evolve with them. In response, our Conversions Division has refined its battery storage offering into three clearly defined tiers – Gold, Silver, and Bronze – aligned to battery chemistry, usage, and risk profile.

They have also introduced the Green Battery Store, a cost-effective container solution for batteries classified as low risk under DSEAR assessments. This structured approach enables customers to balance fire safety, compliance, and budget without compromising protection.

Container Conversions That Go Beyond Storage

One of the key takeaways from last year’s exhibition was how many visitors were surprised by the versatility of a converted shipping container. At S Jones, the container is just the starting point.

Through expert engineering and design, we transform standard corten steel containers into specialist fire-safe environments, including switchgear housing, water treatment enclosures, laboratories, workshops, plant rooms, and battery testing facilities. Each conversion is bespoke, compliant, and built to support long-term operational performance.

At The Fire Safety Event 2026, we’ll be showcasing a full-scale container on our stand, complemented by immersive 360° visuals that demonstrate the true potential of a corten steel base and the exceptional range of high-performance technical solutions that can be engineered from it.

Award-Winning Innovation in Container Engineering

Our commitment to innovation and technical excellence was recognised in 2025 through multiple industry awards, including Manufacturing Innovator of the Year at the Innovation Awards and the Manufacturing Innovation Award at Made in the Midlands. These accolades reflect the precision, expertise, and fire-focused design that underpin every S Jones conversion.

If you’re attending The Fire Safety Event 2026, we look forward to welcoming you to our stand and showing how a humble shipping container can be engineered into a safe, compliant, and future-ready solution.
